The extension can download subtitles in about 49 languages, including English, Arabic, Bulgarian, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and more.
Load up the video, go to the VLC menu in Mac, then mouse over to Extensions and select VLSub. On Windows go to View - Extensions. This window will let you search through extensions automatically. VLC Media Player allows you to add some new features to the player. Adding a skin to the player change the interface of the player. There are other types of add-ons which allows VLC to do something different like, load lyrics automatically for songs or load subtitles automatically for videos.
The extension should work with VLC 1.1.0+ (I've tested it with 1.1.x and 2.0) on Linux, Windows or Mac OSX.

Create the ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/extensions folder (in case it doesn't exist):3. Move the downloaded .lua file to the ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/extensions folder ('.local' is a hidden folder in your home directory so press CTRL + H to see it).
